quick opinion about linkedin.com

I also wished I was able to navigate linkedin.com better, in terms of my profile, which I will improve on. I think linkedin, com is a great networking tool and I want to take advantage of it as much as possible.

My Final Paper

Out of the many things I wish I can improve in businesses, I went with banks and electronic fingerprinting.  I feel that IDs and pin swipe is no where enough or as accurate in indentifying people as electronic fingerprinting.  The government uses it for a reason: secured, dependable, and convenient; don't forget no one has an other person's fingerprint.  It interests me because it bothers me.  Having banking experience, it was never one time that I felt 100% about the person I was identifying, not even 99%.  I identified all different levels of bank officials, from a teller, banker, and even a manager.  I would have liked to get in contact with HR workers, VPS and even CEOs, which unfortunately did not go my way but I was overall satisfied with my results.

Blog Search Redone

I found a few very interesting blogs about marketing on toprankblog.com. One of the blogs I read was about ads people can click on online and how the quality of the ad is important. Another blog that I found interesting on that same site was about how one can learn a lot as well as gain knowledge on marketing online.

Meetup.com

When I visited meetup.com, I found a group called Wild Women Entrepreneurs. This group gives intelligent women who want to be entrepreneurs the resources they need to succeed in opening their own business. I found the blogs and the meet.up group interesting because it gives me knowledge on things in my field that I did not know about as well as a useful resource I might be able to use when I am ready to open up my own business.

Long Tail Review

Out of all the choices of books I could have read, I went with The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business Is Selling Less of More, written by Chris Anderson.  I never heard of this book before I chose to read it and the reason why I chose it was because the title caught my attention and I wanted to know the concept behind the book.  This was one good book!  The ideas Anderson had in the book were good and now I have an understanding of what the long tail is.  One of things I agreed with Anderson was that ever since the internet was invented and online businesses started appearing, they have beat out retail stores.  It is true when he said that the reason why internet companies are so successful is because they offer things that retail stores do not; they give customers more options and thats why they are so successful.  By having all these options, there is at least one person in the world that would want and these internet companies such as amazon, have tons of books, and rhaspody, having tons music,  have proven it and thats why they have a long tail.  Another thing i also agreed with Anderson was is the two things business must do to keep the long tail which were, making everything about it and making things easy.  As long as businesses keep these concepts in their business they will continue to succeed forever.  One more thing I found interesting was when he starting speaking about the industrial revolution and how  that era help start business from Thomas Edison to Ford to railroads to Sears.  As the years went on people have taken these ideas and made more successful and more convenient for customers, for example Sears went from catalog to building retain stores and another example is WalMart and its success.  Overall this is a great book that any business person, especially an entrepreneur as myself, should read to have a better understanding of business and how it evolves and will continue to change and how to succeed in an trend setting world.

Facebook and their Advertisements

On every web-page I go on I always see ADs everywhere! I recently went on facebook and so ADS anywhere where there was open space.  Many of their advertisements is student related (obviously).  For example they have advertisements about Fordham housing,  spring vacations and going abroad  to whatever country and information about colleges (school ADs).  The majority of their ADs though are businesses trying to sell you something.

I also went to check out CNN.com and to see their advertisements and to no surprise their ADs were based on things they offer on their website and on their TV channel ADs.  They had minimal non-CNN ADs.  For example, on the their health page, out all their health ADs, only one was non-CNN.  It is obvious that is company solely focuses on their business only.

I went to check out the movie trailer of Transformer 2 at yahoo and their ADs, which I thought would revolve around movies, didn't.  There was only one AD for movies (Netflick) and the rest did not relate the movie for nothing in the world.  They had two more ADs; one was about the NutriSystem, which I found to be a not so smart place to put an AD about becoming skinny, and Trend Shine, which is part of yahoo that only talks about celebrities and the way they dress.  At least with Trend Shine it somehow relates to movies because movies features celebrities and Trend Shine is made by Yahoo.  I just wished they had more movie related ADs like the offcial website of the upcoming film, just anything movie related.

My Results From Path101

I just finish taking my personality quiz on Path 101 and overall the result i felt described my personality.  My five strongest traits are: agreeableness, idealism, openness, perfectionism, and confidence.  I am not really big when it comes to teams but I do become a team player and I put as much as effort and support as I can.  When dealing with groups, after reading my personality results, I need to be surrounded by a team members who are highly confident and believe in the work they are doing.  I also work best with team members who have a variation of ideas who are willing to open their minds to other people's ideas and who are willing to try  new things.  Incomplete work is no exception and I need to work with people who are as much as perfectionist as I am and who are able to agree on group topics and discussions, rather than questioning and consistently disagreeing with the obvious.  Overall, my winning team are positive people with a drive and need of success!
